The
Marine Mammal Stranding Center
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center's
main objective is to rescue and rehabilitate stranded
or otherwise stressed marine mammals and sea turtles.
With permission from the state and federal governments,
the center has responded to over 1,000 strandings of
whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles over the years.
Although they are authorized by the state and federal
governments to handle strandings, there is no permanent
funding at this time for the work they do. All funding
comes through donations, memberships , sales of shirts
and fund-raising efforts.
